Elettra was present at the Science Agorà conference (http://www.jst.go.jp/csc/scienceagora/en/) in Tokyo, Japan, on November 13th - 15th 2015.

Science Agorà is a yearly science dissemination event organized by the Japan Science and Technology Institute (JST). One of the three sessions was dedicated to the UNESCO Year of Light 2015. Since Japan is now also eligible for support within the EC Horizon 2020 programme, there is an increased interest in collaborating with European light sources. In this framework, the EU delegation in Japan setup the “Europe Light House” talks session and a booth, and invited representatives of European Lightsources and projects to join. The conference had more than 9.100 participants and was a great success; the EU delegation also won a prize as “most international booth”.

Cecilia Blasetti presented Elettra and FERMI with a dedicated talk and a poster. She also coordinated the contribution of European Lightsources presenting the FP7 CALIPSO project as well as the FELs of Europe initiative. Two distinguished users of Elettra and FERMI, prof. I. Matsuda and prof. K. Ueda, respectively, presented their research in collaboration with European light sources and underlined the unique state-of-the art equipment and assistance they usually receive at Elettra and FERMI. A video interview to prof. Matsuda (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZonoyFJS-I) was  also realized by the Elettra Crowd Team and displayed during the conference.

The Communication team at Elettra involved the artist Annalisa Metus (www.annalisametus.it) who prepared two foldable paper models of Elettra and FERMI - Spring and Autumn versions which were met with great enthusiasm by the general public.
