Prof. Alfonso Franciosi and Prof. Yalin Lu during the visit of NSRL at Elettra

Trieste, 11 June 2019

Prof. Yalin Lu, director of China’s National Synchrotron Radiation Center  (NSRL) in Hefei, together with Prof. Guobin Zhang, paid a visit to Elettra, meeting the President and CEO Prof. Alfonso Franciosi. They exchanged their views on how to strengthen the collaboration, which officially began in 2018 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, expressing a convergence of will to cooperate in the field of the most advanced synchrotron science and technology. Elettra and NSRL are facing similar challenges when designing their new synchrotrons, where the exchange of the experience gathered and approaches adopted could bring benefits to both parties.

The visit was made on the occasion of the ceremony that was held in Brdo pri Kranju (SLO) for newly elected and existing members of the Slovenian Academy of Engineering (IAS). IAS members are the most distinguished Slovenian experts in the field of engineering and technology, with recognized achievements in the field of technological and scientific advancements. For the first time in the history of the IAS, foreign experts were admitted to membership. Prof. Yalin Lu was thus among nine top foreign experts from China, Denmark, the USA, Switzerland, Israel, Russia, France and Germany who received IAS corresponding membership.
