Arriving in Trieste

By car

Trieste is connected to the rest of Italy and Europe through the A4 highway.

By bus

The bus transport local company is called Trieste Trasporti. The city bus timetables are available at Trieste Trasporti web site.

By train

All the information about timetables for local, national and international trains are available at Trenitalia web site.

By air

Three airports are commonly used to reach Trieste:

Ronchi dei Legionari Airport is about 35 km from Trieste. From the airport you can reach Trieste by taxi or by line E51 public bus (for the bus timetable please click on the link and select "scarica PDF linee aereoporto" below the map that will appear).
If you have reserved a room at the ICTP Adriatico Guest House (AGH), you can ask the driver to let you off at Grignano (address: Adriatico Guest House (AGH), via Grignano n.9, 34014 Trieste, Italy).

Venice Airport is about 150 km from Trieste. It is connected with "Mestre-Venezia" railway station by flybus.
Direct trains are then available between "Mestre-Venezia" and Trieste railway station: the journey takes about two hours.
Once arrived at Trieste railway station, if you have reserved a room at the ICTP Adriatico Guest House (AGH), you can reach your destination in about 20 minutes taking a taxi or a public bus (line 36). The bus stop is near the railway station in Viale Miramare.

Ljubljana Airport is about 114 km from Trieste and is connected to Ljubljana railway station by public bus.
Direct connections are then available between Ljubljana and Trieste railway stations.
