Soft X-ray polarimeter
The high vacuum soft X-ray polarimeter (base pressure > 10-8 mbar) can serve essentially for two purposes:
- characterisation of the degree of polarisation of soft X-ray beamlines in the photon energy range 20 eV - 700 eV;
- measurement of reflectivity/transmissivity/scattering with linearly/circularly polarised soft X-ray synchrotron radiation with freely adjustable plane of incidence.
Please note:
- This instrument does neither have a dedicated beamline nor a laboratory VUV/soft X-ray source and therefore it is not easy to use it for tests: it needs to be installed in one of the existing beamlines. This will in most cases require an officially approved beamtime for the experiment. Consequently, please, remember to contact the laboratory staff much in advance if you would like to use this instrument. In this way the polarimeter suitability for your study can be checked;
- Remember that usually you get beamtime allocation at the earliest about 4 months after the proposal deadlines.
