Tutorial of Advanced Synchrotron Techniques, May 2017

Trieste - Elettra, 15-17 May, 2017

Elettra hosted a group of 26 students, coming from the Montan Universität Leoben and the Technical University Graz, who attended the school “Synchrotron Radiation in Materials Science”.

Co-organized by the two Austrian Universities, the seventh edition of the school has been made possible by  the collaboration of the beamlines SAXS, DXRL, XRD1, MCX, and  XAFS.

On Monday 15th, after a short presentation of the two lightsources Elettra and FERMI, the participants joined Alessio Turchet in a tour of Elettra, visiting  the beamlines SYRMEP, ESCA Microscopy and TwinMic, where Franco Zanini, Matteo Amati and Alessandra Gianoncelli, respectively, briefly explained the experimental activities at the beamlines. In the next two days, the students attended a series of lectures on the experimental techniques and on the data treatment.
They also collaborated on the success of the event: Luca Olivi, Giuliana Aquilanti (XAFS), Giorgio Bais, Nicola Demitri, Maurizio Polentarutti (XRD1), Jasper Plaisier, Lara Gigli (MCX), Heinz Amenitsch, Sigrid Bernstorff, Barbara Sartori (SAXS), Benedetta Marmiroli and Alessio Turchet (DXRL).
