From 7 to 11 October, 2019IAEA and Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste organized the Training Workshop on Instrumentation for Synchrotron Radiation Experiments held at Elettra premises.

Seven students representing seven different countries attended lectures about the principles of x-ray absorption spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence and x-ray diffraction as well as applications of these techniques in different fields: from environment to cultural heritage, from materials to life science. The final goal of this training workshop was to demonstrate the unique opportunities opened by large scale synchrotron facilities and to practice writing and submitting successful proposals for getting beamtime.

Elettra and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) have been collaborating for more than 15 years for endorsing the Agency’s activities in disseminating scientific and technical culture and for promoting international networks among the research communities worldwide. IAEA also is a Partner of the XRF beamline at Elettra since 2012.
