On Monday, March 18, 2024, Elettra hosted 50 students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. The occasion took place as part of the study visit of the students to 10 partners of the Scientific System and Innovation of Friuli-Venezia Giulia (SIS FVG), organized by Area Science Park from March 18 to 20.

The visit allowed students to get a close look at the scientific and innovative local realities engaged in various fields of research, opening up to possible future collaborations. This initiative is in line with the objectives of SIS FVG, which has been committed since 2016 to consolidate an "Network of Scientific Excellence" to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional territory at national and international levels.

Starting from Area Science Park, which coordinated the entire initiative, the students then attended a dense series of visits and presentations involving the company Plus, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), and the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS).

Elettra also participated in the initiative welcoming students with a presentation by Jasper Plasier, Head of the MCX beamline. The students were then guided through some of the beamlines operated by the Institute of Materials (CNR-IOM).
