FameLab 2016 - registration open

Science in 3 minutes
FAMELAB 2016
Trieste, 25 February, 2016

Are you really into science and you can't help talking about it?

Are you a scientist, a researcher or a university student and a good communicator?

For you there is FameLab, the science talent show!

For the fourth year the local selection of FameLab is back on stage in Trieste! The international competition challenges young scientists with the talent of communication to tell in just 3 minutes the object of his or her study, or a fascinating scientific topic.
No slide shows, graphs, videos: only a fistful of words and a talent for communication are required, to spread to the public the charm and the importance of the scientific research, in a a way that is amusing and easy to grasp. The best communicators will win a cash prize and will have the chance to participate in a masterclass on science communication, as well as to enter the international competition!
FameLab was launched in 2005 in the UK by Cheltenham Science Festival. The event is promoted at an international level, in over 25 different countries, by British Council. In Italy the competition is organized since 2012 by Psiquadro-Perugia Science Fest in collaboration with British Council Italia.
FameLab Italia envisages an initial local phase in 7 Italian cities, one of which is Trieste (the others cities are Ancona, Naples, L'Aquila, Padoa, Perugia and Turin).

The Trieste competition is organized by the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico, the Municipality of Trieste, the University of Trieste and SISSA-The International School for Advanced Studies, and it will take place on February 25th 2016 , at 9 a.m. at the Teatro Miela. For each local competition 2 finalists will be selected, for a total of 14 finalists from the whole country: they will participate in the FameLab Masterclass, a training course in science communication, and in the final national competition, to be held on May 2016.
The winner of FameLab Italia, together with the participants coming from the other countries, will be admitted to the international competition that will take place in Cheltenham (UK), during the Cheltenham Science Festival in June 2016.
