Conceptual design of Soft X-ray spectroscopic end-station for studies of electronic structure of energy materials.

Abstract
Research of electronic structure of energy materials is one of keys for their successful development. Soft X-ray spectroscopy (SXS) with use of synchrotron radiation is a proven reliable method to provide experimental information about electronic structure of the materials. Corresponding SXS end-station for Berlin Electron Synchrotron BESSY II is to be developed. The end-station is to combine both angle-dependent (Q)- Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) technique as a primary tool and both angle-dependent photoelectron spectroscopy as a secondary tool in the energy range of 200-1200 eV. The end-station is to be applied to both solid and liquid samples. The scientific concept, the engineering design prototype and future upgrade options will be presented.
