Reflection zone plate optics for ultra-fast spectrometers and monochromators

Alexei Erko
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Institute for Nanometer Optics and Technology, Berlin

Abstract
The new generation X-ray optical elements and systems for spectroscopy and monochromatization, developed and fabricated at the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB), are reported. Two-dimensional variable line spacing (VLS) laminar diffraction grating, including reflection zone plates arrays (RZPA) were designed, calculated, produced and tested in the laboratories of the Institute for Nanometer Optics and Technology (INT HZB). VLS and RZPA gratings have been used in optical systems with synchrotron radiation and free electron laser sources at BESSY II and LCLS, as well as laboratory instrumentation. Special attention is paid to optical systems for wavelength-dispersive fluorescence analysis.
