Abstract
The synthesis of naked nanoparticles without the use of stabilizing molecules for obtaining stable colloidal solutions are shown to be possible with the laser ablation of bulk materials under solvents (LASiS). Different classes of materials are obtained with this methodology and results will be reported for plasmonic, magnetic and semiconductor nanoparticles. The functionalization of the nanoparticles are simply obtained and examples will be shown of plasmonic nanoparticles with SERS activity and enhanced cell targeting properties. Nanostrutures with plasmonic and superparamagnetic nanoparticles will be shown to be useful for an application like the iperthermal treatment of targeted cancer cells. Semicondutor nanoparticles produced by LASiS, like those of PbI2, will be shown to be interesting for obtaining stable perovskite materials for the solar energy conversion.
