The ICTP-ELETTRA Users Programme is offering access to the synchrotron radiation facility ELETTRA in Trieste in the years 2002-2006 to scientists who are citizens of developing countries and work in those countries.
Up to an annual total of 1500 hours can be made available within this programme for beamtime applications at any of the existing ELETTRA beamlines.
The programme is offering a limited number of grants to cover travel and living expenses of individuals and small groups who are meant to participate in the beamtime at ELETTRA. The number of scientists who can receive support depends on the number of allocated shifts and available funds:
In order to participate in the ICTP-ELETTRA Users Programme it is necessary to:
Submit an application for beamtime following the usual ELETTRA procedure;
There are two deadlines every year:
The proposed experiments will be selected for beamtime assignment on the basis of their scientific merit. The applicants will be notified as soon as possible of the experiment evaluation.
If your application is approved, you will receive an official notification about the beamtime assignment and you will be informed whether financial resources are available to cover your expenses. When selecting the experiments to be supported, priority will be given to groups which have not benefitted from the Programme previously.
After you receive the communication that your proposal has been selected to be supported by the Programme, you should submit the relevant application (one form for each participant).
You will receive from ICTP an official invitation letter with some prearrival information.
Besides complying with the general instructions described in the Users Handbook, after your arrival in Trieste adhere to the following procedure
