G. Baribaud (CERN, Switzerland), Industrial systems, hardware and software, are increasingly used for particle accelerator controls. Builders of particle detectors, who have their own very specific requirements, are now also investigating the possibility of adopting Industrial Systems for their controls. Industrial Systems cannot fulfil all the needs of the Experimental Physics controls community so strict selection criteria must be defined in order to identify the most suitable system.
