Le donne nella città della Conoscenza


“Le Donne nella Città della Conoscenza” a photographic exhibition focusing on portraits and voices of women of the scientific and cultural system of Trieste has been  inaugurated today in the presence of Serena Tonel, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Trieste, Andrea Romanino, Director of SISSA and Anna Gregorio, University of Trieste and President of SISSA Medialab.

Five are the pictures of Elettra’s researchers: Giuliana Aquilanti, researcher head of XAFS and XRF beamlines, Lara Gigli, beamline scientist at the beamline MCX, Oksana Plekan, beamline scientist at the LDM, Marta Semrau, researcher at the Structural Biology Laboratory and Lisa Vaccari, Group Coordinator of IDEAS Beamlines and Labs and Head of SISSI-Chemical and Life Sciences beamline at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste.

The exhibition will be open from 8 March until 14 May, every Friday and Saturday afternoon from 4 pm to 7.30 pm. Schools can book exclusive midweek morning openings. The program includes face-to-face meetings with the women portrayed in the exhibition and special events on gender issues. One of the initiatives will focus on policies and best practices to promote gender equality in the local institutions such as the Gender Equality Plan.
 

The exhibition, dedicated to the role of women in academia, research and culture, is an initiative of SISSA, curated by SISSA Medialab, and is part of the Trieste Learning City project of Unesco, coordinated by Università della LiberEtà and the Municipality of Trieste with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
