DISCOVER ELETTRA SINCROTRONE TRIESTE

Important notice for visits

From July 1, 2023, it is possible to book visits (for a maximum of 30 people) for scientific partnership, institutional, or technical-scientific purposes. However, all visits of a different nature and those dedicated to schools are suspended until further notice.

We apologize, but our research center is undergoing an extensive period of redevelopment and restructuring. Due to complex logistics, load handling, visitor safety, and health concerns that we cannot guarantee, we must severely limit access to our research center for non-professionals. Almost all of our researchers who provide guided tours are volunteers with work commitments dedicated to extraordinary activities during this period.

We are building the new Elettra 2.0, a completely new and high-performance machine that will replace the current Elettra storage ring.

Any new available dates for visits will be announced no earlier than September 1 - the aforementioned rules will still be in effect.

School visits, association visits, scientific tourism: TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED.

Institutional, technical-scientific, partnerships, industrial collaborations: BOOKABLE ONLINE at the following link (available time slots visible during the booking).

For technical-scientific and industrial visits, you can also contact the relevant offices for individual agreements on dates and times.

Further information and updates will be published here. Stay connected with us.

We are an international and multidisciplinary research center of excellence, specialized in the study of materials through the light generated by two sources: Elettra, a third-generation synchrotron radiation facility, and FERMI, a free electron laser of new concept. The light produced by this two is used to study matter and its properties at atomic level by 36 experimental stations.

Thanks to the basic and applied research that is carried out daily in our two facilities, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste promotes the cultural, social and economic growth of society, contributes to the transfer of knowledge and technology, to the dissemination of high technical, scientific and management training, and promotes the creation and coordination of national and international scientific networks.

More than 400 people work permanently within Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, and numerous chemistry, biology, materials science, electronics and computer science laboratories are operative and enhance the scientific investigation capacity of the experimental stations.

Every year more than 1000 researchers from more than 50 countries apply to be selected for their scientific merit and carry out their research and measurements at Elettra, while more than 5000 visitors from schools, universities, other bodies and associations satisfy their curiosity through guided visits. Many of our researchers and technicians are happy to dedicate part of their time to dissemination and information for visitors.
