Elettra Fellow to Dr Amor Nadji

Dr Amor Nadji
Prof. Alfonso Franciosi, President and CEO of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and Dr Amor Nadji. (ph. R. Visintini)

On June 21, 2022, Dr. Amor Nadji, nominated Elettra Fellow by the Board of Directors of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste on November 25, 2021, received a honour plate.
The title of Elettra Fellow is awarded to internationally-renowned scientists and administrators.

Dr. A. Nadji is a distinguished accelerator physicist of international repute who has given fundamental contributions to the design and simulations of particle accelerators, in fields ranging from linear and non-linear electron beam dynamics in storage rings to synchrotron radiation production, as well as commissioning and operating procedures for storage rings. He also made significant contributions in the femtoslicing operation established at SOLEIL.

After obtaining a degree in physics and a PhD in nuclear physics from the University of Strasbourg, Dr. Nadji worked initially as an accelerator physicist at Lure (Orsay-France). Later he moved to the SOLEIL synchrotron, the French national synchrotron radiation facility, where he became head of the accelerator physics group. At the same time he served as part-time technical director of SESAME, the Jordanian synchrotron, occupying a vitally important position sponsored by UNESCO. While at SESAME he contributed in a very significant way towards the realization of the project, and in 2011 moved back to France fulltime as the technical director of SOLEIL. He is a member of several machine advisory committees for accelerator projects worldwide.
Dr. Nadji has been a member of the Machine Advisory Committee (MAC) of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste since 2012 and over the last nine years has provided our institution with many valuable suggestions in areas ranging from machine simulations to commissioning and operating procedures, greatly contributing to the success of our organisation.
