How to Reach Elettra

Trieste City Bus Lines Timetabe
City Bus Lines 39 and 51 connect the Railway station to Elettra or Basovizza; There are regular city service buses that travel from the central railway station to Elettra laboratory which is located about 10 km from Trieste centre.
From Trieste Autostazione get accross the square and take BUS N. 51 (Trieste Trasporti) in front of the "Unicredit" bank. Bus stop is near the traffic light (point B in the map). Also, bus N. 39 has some rides that arrive to ST (check timetables), otherwise the nearest stop is in Basovizza, 1.5 km from ST.

Ticket fare: €1.10 (one way). Can be bought in the "Tabacchi" news kiosks or at the automatic ticket machine in the main square, in front of the train station main entrance.
Ride takes 20 to 25 min approximately.
Note that there is also a coach service (coach number 51) which connects Trieste Airport Ronchi dei Legionari to Trieste Bus and Railway station (Fare 3.25 euro, the ticket can be purchased at the airport). Please note: Both buses (from the airport to Trieste and from Trieste to Basovizza) are number 51 but they belong to different companies!

From Trieste FVG Airport Ronchi dei Legionari:

BUS SERVICES: Coach number 51 (APT Gorizia, website only in italian), bus stop: Trieste Autostazione (in front of the railway station).
Tickets can be purcahsed at the airport:

  • at the tourist information counter - Infopoint Turismo FVG

  • from the 24-hour automatic ticket machine

Ticket fare: €3.30 (one way)
Ride takes 50 min to 1 hour, depending on traffic.
 

    1. Take the coach service (number 51) which connects Trieste Airport Ronchi dei Legionari to Trieste Bus and Railway station (Fare 3.25 euro, the ticket can be purchased at the airport)
    2. From Trieste Bus and Railway station take Bus Lines 39 and 51 which connect the Railway station to Elettra or Basovizza. We advise to ask the driver if the bus will stop at Elettra or Basovizza because some of the buses 39 and 51 do not stop here. The city bus fare is about 1 euro and the ticket can be purchased at news kiosks or automatic machines (not on board). .

OPTION A

Flybus ATVOCity Bus Timetable
    1. Take the coach service which connects Venezia Marco Polo to Mestre Railway station (about 20-30 minutes, Fare 3.0 euro, the ticket can be purchased at the airport or at the automatic machines)
    2.From Mestre Railway station take the train to Trieste (about 2 hours)
    3. From Trieste Bus and Railway station take Bus Lines 39 and 51 connect the Railway station to Elettra or Basovizza; The city bus fare is about 1 euro and the ticket can be purchased at news kiosks or automatic machines (not on board). .

OPTION B Goopti or Science Bus or Flixbus
    Direct option: the . Book in advance. These coach services (Private) connects directly Elettra with Marco Polo Airport. 

OPTION C How to reach Elettra by car
    Rent a car.
