3D Printing

It is now possible to experiment 3D printing technology.   An experimental 3D printer, the Makerbot Replicator 2X is available for the scientists and technologists of the laboratory and is located in room T2 PT 069A.

The MakerBot Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printer is a full-featured desktop 3D printer for daredevils and experimenters to explore the frontiers of 3D printing. Equipped with two extruders and optimized for the traditional thermoplastic ABS filament, the MakerBot Replicator 2X is prepared for future developments in 3D printing.

The printer can print using both an ABS filament or using a PLA filament. Its precision is 100 microns. The availabe software called Makerware can transofm any 3D model in .STL or .OBJ format (normally produced by common 3D CAD applications) into layers and instructions for the printer.

The printer, equipped with 2 extruders can print at the same time using 2 color.  We will be anyhow available to support your experimental activities. For any further information please .
