The superconducting third harmonic project at ELETTRA

ABSTRACT
An overview on the SUPER-3HC project, based on the design and fabrication
of a superconducting cavity at 1.5GHz at ELETTRA will be
presented. The goal of this new equipment is the bunch lengthening
with the consequent improvement in the beam lifetime (Touschek lifetime).
The
advantages of the superconducting choices and the optimization of the
cavity design parameters will be discussed. A particular attention will
be given to the complex cryogenic environment that is installed for
the1st time at ELETTRA. A general outlook on the actual status of the
project and on the next planned machine operations will conclude the
talk.
