The Austrian SAXS beamline - at the interface between nano & bio

Heinz Amenitsch
Institute of Biophysics and Nanosystems Research, Austrian Academy of Sciences

Abstract
Belonging to the first beamlines it has been constructed and operated in collaboration with ELETTRA since 16 years focussing initially to time-resolved nanostructure determination in the submillisecond time domain. Consequently, over the years, the beamline has served many user groups coming from very different science communities and has established a strong profile from material sciences, biophysics till biology in both, in-house and external research. Nevertheless the beamline is in a continuous process of renewal and improvement to keep up with the state-of-the-art and challenges of science. This presentation should give a short overview starting from the performance, status up to the some highlights of SAXS applications. Special attention will be given to the framework of current collaborations within ELETTRA.
