The XRD1 beamline - status and future prospects

Abstract
The XRD1 (X-Ray Diffraction 1) beamline is a general purpose beamline capable to host different experiments and measurements in the field of hard X rays. Molecular 3D structure determination for small molecules and proteins, powder diffraction analysis, grazing incidence experiments, high pressure measurements are some of most common beamline outputs. The high data throughput required in particular by the protein crystallography community pushed (and still is requiring) for a high degree of automation, strong upgrades towards more-performing instrumentation and software, and different beamtime allocation policies. The availability of cutting edge instrumentation and a good degree of automation has also resulted in an increased demand of beamtime by industry. The seminar will present the beamline typical outputs, its current status and results and will give a glimpse on future prospects.
