Integrated quantum photonics

Marco Barbieri

Abstract
Light has proven to be an excellent testbed for realising elementary operations which will enable future quantum computers. One of the big challenges is to scale these systems up to a size which can not be simulated efficiently by a classical machine. For this purpose, the use of waveguide structures as quantum hardware has emerged as an intriguing solution, due to intrinsic stability of on chip interferometers which constitute optical quantum circuits. In this talk I will review recent progress done in Oxford towards this ambitious goal.
