Elettra Call for Proposals

Call for proposals

The deadline for proposal submission for beamtime allocation is to be announced

On-line submission using the Virtual Users Office at the following URL: https://vuo.elettra.trieste.it/.

Support programs

Please visit the webpage describing all the available programs.

Submit your experimental report!

According to Sincrotrone Trieste policy, if you have already performed measurements at Elettra you must insert the achievements and the experimental report in the appropriate fields. Failing to do so will prevent you from submitting further proposals!
A publications database is available at: http://vuo.elettra.trieste.it/pls/vuo/publi_mgr.startup Please check number and contents of all publications and submit the missing ones. Please note that the experimental report and previous publications will be considered in the evaluation of your proposal.

Long term proposals

Elettra accepts a limited number of long term proposals. Read more

New: Elettra-CNR proposals

An Elettra-CNR proposal is part of a CNR project, performed in collaboration with Elettra.
Such proposals will be evaluated by the Elettra-CNR Bilateral Committee and then, in case of approval, by the Elettra Peer Review Panel. Proponents will have to tick the box “Elettra-CNR proposal” in the VUO Proposal Submission Form. They will have to insert all the CNR and Elettra participants in the List of Participants and they will have to indicate how many semesters are necessary to complete the research (max 4 semesters are allowed).

Guidelines for proposals evaluation

Access to Elettra beamlines is provided to scientists on the basis of the scientific merit of experimental proposals. More

Important Information about SAXS and Materials Science

All the proposals for the Beamlines SAXS and Materials Science will be handled by CERIC-ERIC and have to be submitted through the channel:
http://www.ceric-eric.eu/index.php?n=Users.Facilities.

For further information please contact the CERIC-ERIC Users’ Office:

SISSI-MATERIAL SCIENCE beamline (SISSI-MAT)

We wish to inform You that the beamline is open and accepting proposals for the upcoming semester. Due to the perduring of the pandemic emergency a selected number of proposals will be accepted, covering roughly 2/3 of the full slots.

In case of any further information(s) needed do not hesitate to reach for the local contacts and see you soon at SISSI Materials.

PLEASE NOTE:

Materials Science Beamline (UV/X-ray beamline accessible through CERIC call

SISSI-Material Science (infrared beamline accessible through Elettra call)

ALOISA beamline

Due to change of staff personnel and training, a smaller number of experiments will be allocated in semester 2020-II. If the proposal does not specifically require the characteristics of the ALOISA experimental station, Users are encouraged to consider alternative application to the branchline ANCHOR (to be specified in the proposal, after mandatory contact with Prof. Albano Cossaro), where the same photon energy range and resolution are provided.

APE-HE and APE-LE beamlines

The users who plan to utilise both APE-LE and HE, please follow the submission instructions at the link: http://www.elettra.eu/userarea/ape-he-ape-le-multiexperiment-proposals.html.
For more details, please contact: I. Vobornik: , P. Torelli: .

BACH beamline

The XAS time-resolved set-up has been updated and it is open to users. (Dynamic range: 100 ps-10 ns; Laser: MiraHP, repetition rate: 83.3 MHz; 800 nm , P=2W,  24 nJ/pulse; SHG BBO 400 nm, P=50mW, 0.6 nJ/pulse; ). For more details please contact BACH staff.
An easy interface of Continuous-wave UV-Vis lasers in the experimental station during measurements is now available. For more details please contact BACH staff.
We always invite users to discuss their proposals with the beamline staff before the submission and to read all the guidelines and rules reported at the following pages:
http://www.elettra.trieste.it/lightsources/elettra/elettra-beamlines/bach/bach-infor-for-users/all.html

CIRCULAR POLARIZATION beamline (CIPo)

Due to the replacement of the Elliptical Wiggler with new undulator  sources in the period Oct-Dec  2022, the user proposals will be allocated only in the period june-sept of the 2022.
Users that require beamtime in the second half of the semester are invited to consider alternative beamline where  same photon energy, resolution and polarization features are provided.

ESCA Microscopy

Innovative solutions for in-operando Near Ambient Pressure PhotoElectron Spectroscopy and Microscopy, developed for the scanning photo-electron microscope (SPEM), are now available for our users. They are based on the control of the gas flow around the sample i) through environmental cells where pressure up to 1 mbar can be achieved or ii) pulsed gas jets with bursts of pressure up to few tens of mbar few millisecond long (equivalent to static pressure around 10-2 mbar).

For detailed information see: https://www.elettra.eu/lightsources/elettra/elettra-beamlines/esca-microscopy/nap-main-page.html

IUVS beamline

On IUVS beamline are now fully operating both the complementary experimental set-up for UV Brillouin and UV Resonant Raman scattering measurements with the possibility to a fine tunabilty of the incident wavelenght between about 200-270 nm. Elettra users can apply for beamtime on IUVS both for UV Brillouin and/or UV Raman experiments. Please visit https://www.elettra.trieste.it/it/lightsources/elettra/elettra-beamlines/iuvs/iuvs.html for more details.

NanoESCA beamline

The NanoESCA endstation is now equipped with the 2-dimensional spin polarimeter. This set-up allows acquiring spin-resolved images in both real and reciprocal space.

NanoSPECTROSCOPY beamline

The SPELEEM microscope has been thoroughly upgraded. In particular, a new electron energy analyzer has been installed, which enables energy resolution better than 100 meV in both real space and diffraction imaging. The sample manipulator allows azimuthal rotation, targeting a vectorial mapping of magnetization using XMCD-PEEM. The beamline staff welcomes proposals exploring these new capabilities and invites users to discuss ideas for future experiments.

SYRMEP beamline

The beamline is open to the user’s proposals

X-PRESS beamline

The SCW source has been reinstalled, and the Xpress beamline is open to the user’s proposals.

X-RAY FLUORESCENCE beamline

The beamline is open to the user’s proposals

X-RAY DIFFRACTION2 beamline

Proposals for the macromolecular beamline (MX) XRD2 can only be submitted via the Monthly Call: https://www.elettra.eu/about/monthly-submission-proposals.html
