FERMI 2.0 Conceptual Design Report

The FERMI FELs are evolving to improve the source performances and to accomplish new needs coming from the user community according to  the lessons learned in the first ten years of user operation. In the next future, an upgrade aimed at extending the emission spectral range of FEL-2 to the water window and to allow pulse durations below the characteristic lifetime of atomic core holes in this energy range, is planned.
